Bensalem Baptist School is Using Twitter!!!

What is Twitter?

Have you ever wanted to know what is going on at Bensalem Baptist School in real time?  Well, through the ever growing popularity of the digital age, you can! The internet has allowed for fast communication like no other time in history; and recently, technology has developed resources that allow communication to happen in real time. So when Pastor Love has a special prayer request, or the teams get back early from an game, you can know instantly.

That is where "Twitter comes in. Twitter is an online, texting program that allows you to follow the school's "tweets." What's a "tweet?" It is simply a "micro-blog" (140 character sentence) that gives you brief information about a topic. We believe this will be a fun yet helpful resource in spreading the word about Bensalem Baptist School.

How Do We Use Twitter?

Bensalem Baptist has always desired to make use of technology that God has given us. Twitter is a form of technology that we believe God could use to connect people to the school and with each other. Here are just a few ways that we intend to use Twitter.

• We will send out the latest news about upcoming events at bbs.
• Important changes will be updated instantly
• Real time information on certain school activities will be made available.

How to I Sign Up?

Phone:To get updates on your phone just text, to the number 40404, the words "follow" and the username of the school "bbseagles." (the period isn't part of the username) You'll receive a text from Twitter asking for a username and it's done. You are set up. You'll now be sent updates to your phone via text message.

Desktop:There are a number of free software programs for your computer such as Tweetdeck and Twhirl that you can use to follow Harvest on your desktop. Many people, however, follow updates from the twitter website. They simply bookmark their page and check daily. Go to Twitter.com and click the "Get Started" box. Follow the directons and you'll be ready to go. Once you're set up, type "follow harvestbc" in the "What are you doing?" box, and you'll begin receiving updates from Harvest Baptist Church.

Mobile Device:For those of you with smart phones such as an iPhone or a Blackberry, Twitter is even easier and more enjoyable. The best applications for the iPhone are Twitterific and Twitterfon, which you can get through the "App Store." One of the better Blackberry applications is Twitterberry.
